How much can I invest each year into my retirement plan?

Modified on Tue, 15 Mar, 2022 at 1:54 PM

The maximum that an individual 49 years of age or younger can invest annually into their 401(k) or 403(b) plan during 2022 is $20,500. Individuals over the age of 50, or those who attain the age of 50 at anytime during 2022, may contribute an additional "catch-up" amount of $6,500 for a total employee contribution of $27,000 in 2022. The maximum amounts are per individual and not per retirement plan.
